Kaddish for the lonely Unborn / David Michaeli

Kaddish for the lonely Unborn

By David Michaeli

At one flesh's span

At one dust's span

At one stone's span

At one worm's span

All holes all are wind.

rescued from inside the burning structure

stripped from me at a stride

Into the relief of bareness.

The celerity of wind upon the flesh

halo and mull blowing.

All winds speak at once

out of night-tunnels.

At a single span

Between me and thee

Folded are all the unborn we ever bore

Returned unto the earth.

Diesel and concrete, roaring and buckling.

The sound of the drops punctuates the pressure of silence

Sliding all around,

Enfolding all around,

Shrouding all around,

Spreading over Me.

I step into Thy plains, my Lord.

Am I the creator?

Is this what I desired?

And if so, am I proud of this?

Lifting the weight of the cup,

Seeking thy Ever lips which remained upon me

After thou hast gone into the creases,

After thou hast gone into time.

Sinking into the dark sweat-stained weaves of straw

Of the armchairs of the universe

Old, accommodating whores,

Accustomed to my specific body weight.

Between darkness and light,

Cradling the empty cup in my palms,

Warming the empty cup in my palms

Above its lips,

Gazing into the memory of thy lips,

The ever lips,

A whispering abyss.

All holes, all, ever holes,

All worms, all, ever worms,

All flesh, all, ever flesh,

All dust, all, ever dust,

The Ever rising unto the wind

Halo and mull,

Veils of the Ever.
